Consists of 5 locations which are Renggam, Simpang Renggam, Machap, Sungai Sayong and Layang-Layang with their own unique characteristics and opening histories. The locals main occupations are farmers, merchants and governments and private servants.
The Karokatua explosion in 1950 caused new settlement in South Kluang area. A hill was estranged (renggang) and until now it is still can be seen. The tragedy of the hill become famous, and the word ‘renggang’ gradually became ‘Renggam’. That is the unique history of Bandar Renggam.
Old buildings which still exist in Pekan Layang-Layang
Pekan Simpang Renggam in 1970’s still preserves the 1950’s traditions.
The history of Bandar Renggam is stated in the British Museum in United Kingdom where it received Queen Elizabeth’s and Queen Victoria’s visits in 1950's. As the main settlement at that time, it became the English Colonial’s focus who possesses big ranches, like the Guthrie Plantation, Ulu Remis Plantation and so on which still exist up to this day. Golf links and old buildings are historical evidence which still exist until now.
